Compatibility

Can I also use my X-LOCK accessories for my conventional angle grinders?

Almost all X-LOCK accessories are compatible with conventional angle grinders. Exceptions to this today are accessories that have a threaded mount, e.g.: diamond core cutters and wire cup brushes.

Can I also use the protective guards of my GWS on the GWX?

Yes, the protective guards are compatible.

Can I use my conventional accessories for my X-LOCK angle grinder?

This is not possible because the accessories require a corresponding X-LOCK interface.

Is there an adapter for X-LOCK for M14 threads?

No, an adapter will not be available.

Can I convert a GWS to GWX?

No, this is not possible due to fundamental technical differences.

Is the X-LOCK system really safe?

Yes, X-LOCK successfully passed numerous service life and extreme stress tests.

How is the disc retained in place if it is not bolted?

The unique X-LOCK mechanism ensures that the disc is reliably installed on the tool – even without flange, nut and key. When you click on the disc, the clamping jaws and thus the system are locked.

Can I release the disc while the tool is in operation?

No, a patented mechanism prevents release of the disc during tool operation.

What is X-Brake?

All X-LOCK cordless angle grinders are equipped with the extra fast braking function "X-Brake": Every time the tool is stopped, it ensures that the disc comes to a standstill within one second – for enhanced user protection. A corresponding solution is currently being developed for corded angle grinders.

Do dust and dirt block the X-LOCK mechanism?

No, dust does not influence the X-LOCK mechanism. This has been tested extensively under realistic conditions, as well as under extreme conditions in the dust chamber. Information on cleaning can be obtained from the operating instructions.

Can I install the X-LOCK accessories incorrectly by accident?

No, X-LOCK accessories - in contrast to conventional accessories - cannot be installed incorrectly.

Which accessories are available for the new X-LOCK system?

The X-LOCK system offers solutions for all cutting and dry polishing work: Cutting and grinding discs, abrasives, backing pads, wire brushes as well as diamond drills and diamond cutting discs.

How many X-LOCK angle grinders and accessories are there? Which disc sizes are offered?

Bosch offers more than 40 X-LOCK angle grinders as well as over 150 X-LOCK accessory parts with diameters 115 mm and 125 mm.

Are X-LOCK accessories only available from Bosch?

No, there are lots of other X-LOCK accessories suppliers. Refer to for a detailed overview.

Will the system also be available for large angle grinders? Will further tools be equipped with X-LOCK?

Basically, other tools are also conceivable and the implementation of this is currently under examination.

Will there soon only be X-LOCK angle grinders?

The aim is to establish the X-Lock system as the new market standard and then also to reduce the number of angle grinders without X-Lock. Both systems will be offered in parallel until a corresponding market penetration has been achieved.
